High School Survival: From the Mind of Many Teens

Today in English II we discussed being a teenager and surviving high school. We were all asked to write out some unwritten rules for survival.
Here are some that I see listed:

• get even
• be prepared for anything
• be aware of your surroundings at all times
• its okay to be wrong
• beware of bullying
• choose your friends wisely
• stay one step ahead of everybody
• keep your friends close and your enemies closer
• listen to everyone but believe no one
• keep your phone on vibrate
• stay in your own group
• have friends
• don't change for other people
• just go with it
• don't get caught
• don't be fake

While some of these may seem a bit ridiculous at first, we high schoolers actually have a bit of unknown knowledge. We survive this mayhem they call "the best four years of your life" every single day. We know our way around and how to behave and walk in the hall, how to text in class without even glancing at our phones, and knowing what's socially right or wrong. I have learned a lot from my current years here and will continue to observe these things that make me who I am.
